Makenna O’Keeffe

(she/they), lover of flowers, the moon, and floating about in bodies of water…

is a creative visual media designer, artist, illustrator, ex-architect, consultant and community arts organizer living, working and supporting community in the unceded Duwamish Territory (Seattle). Makenna is a white, cis, queer jew driven by the desire to create beautiful work which supports community, and creates accessible and radical platforms for individuals and organizations invested in intersectional social justice & anti-racism.

She prioritizes partnering with clients in creative & community driven small businesses so as to help them build their visual voice through branding, web design, visual marketing and social media presence in order to help them succeed in a world that now demands a strong visual and digital presence. Beyond visual design, she also offers her expertise in community arts and events organizing as it lends itself to the clients needs in building their external presence. Makenna’s desire in this work is to help small businesses better support and be in active relationship/dialogue with the communities they are building in.

Makenna graduated from California College of the Arts with a BFA in Interior Architecture in 2009, with focuses in architecture, graphic design, furniture design & construction, jewelry & metal arts, and fine arts. She worked as an architect & interior designer for a small community focused, cooperative architecture firm for 4 years before moving into full time freelance work & community organizing in 2020. She plans to continue to build in this realm of work until the universe lets her retire on the farm of her dreams.
